Japanese electropop trio Perfume are back with a groovy new single, ‘Polygon Wave’.
With funky guitars and thumping 4/4 beats, the single marks Perfume’s return to their original techno-pop style. Continuing the streak started by their 2020 single, ‘Saisei’, ‘Polygon Wave’ further departs from the future bass sound featured on their recent albums, 2018’s ‘Future Pop’ and 2016’s ‘Cosmic Explorer’.

Future Pop is the sixth studio album by Japanese girl group Perfume, released on August 15, 2018 by Universal Music Japan sublabels Universal J and Perfume Records. The album debuted at the top spot of the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart with 79,282 copies on its first week of release, making it their seventh number-one album in Japan. The album also yielded its first number-one release on the Oricon Weekly Digital Albums chart with 7,396 downloads. Three maxi singles were released from the album; “Tokyo Girl”, “If You Wanna”, and “Mugen Mirai”, as well as one promotional single, “Let Me Know”.

“Mugen Mirai” is the 30th single released by Perfume. It was released in three versions: two limited CD+DVD editions and a regular CD edition. The title track was used as the theme for the live-action film Chihayafuru -Musubi-. The coupling track “FUSION” was used as the NTT Docomo “FUTURE-EXPERIMENT VOL.01 docomo×Perfume Kyori wo Nakuse.” tie-up song, while the recut song “FLASH” was used as the theme for the movie adaptation of Chihayafuru.
