Kiesza releases her EP Dark Tales via her own label Zebra Spirit Tribe, rounding out an extremely productive 2020 for the pop-icon.
The EP follows her highly anticipated and critically acclaimed sophomore album CRAVE and her recent featured track with deadmau5, Bridged By A Lightwave. The stunning collaboration engaged audiences in a powerful aspect of Kieszas songwriting talent – the introspective, vulnerable exploration of vocal nuance and lyrical adventures.
Dark Tales is the epitome of Kieszas comeback; A life-changing car crash rendered Kiesza incapable of performing live, and potentially ever walking again, forcing her to take a two-year hiatus. This body of work is one Kiesza has been eager to share. Kiesza says: ‘Dark Tales is the key to my Pandora?s Box, unlocking my eccentricities, my pain and inner darkness that I often experience, but dont always feel vulnerable enough to share. Songs from this EP come from different points in time through my journey thus far, and Ive been eager to share them with the world. I?m ecstatic that theyre finally ready to be unleashed.’
Kieszas new music touches on her recent life-changing experiences musically drawing on a range of 80s influences. Her adept skill as a songwriter which has seen the likes of Duran Duran, Jennifer Lopez, Gorgon City, Rihanna and Kylie Minogue enlist her to write for them is evident throughout her music and permits her to retake her rightful place on the pop scene.
