The love affair continues. Eden Iris a protege of Mike Chunn’s Play It Strange school of songwriting, released the exceptional EP Crying Birds before taking flight to the US. Four years later and there is signs of life again with the equally wonderful Demons EP. Apparently, three of the songs were inspired by the TV series Game Of Thrones, but whatever the touchstones were, they were not literal. The existential themes of the three standout tracks, Demons, Queens and 22, are soul stirring, beautifully arranged and poignantly observed. It’s rare to find a songwriter who understands the nature of illusion and reality. Eden Iris is that exception.
