L was Ayumi Hamasaki’s 50th single and the third release in the “50th Single Project”. “L” represents the number 50 in roman numerals. It was released on September 29, 2010 and reached no. 1 on the Oricon Weekly Charts with 70,715 copies sold. In all this single has sold over 94,573 copies. This single gives Ayumi her 25th consecutive no. 1 charting single, breaking Matsuda Seiko’s record set back in 1988. The PV for “Virgin Road” was shot in Los Angeles and all of the tracks were also recorded there. It was also released in a grand total of 4 editions, two different CD+DVD editions as well as two different CD-Only editions. The single is certified gold by the RIAJ for a shipment of 100,000 copies.
