Although her annual COUNTDOWN LIVE has been canceled, Ayumi Hamasaki shared some good news on the first day of the new year: on March 12, her best album ” A BALLADS 2 ” will be released, exactly 18 years after the first.

The product will be available in five editions:

This is not the only news: on Instagram, Ayumi shared the instrumental of the new song ” Pray for you “, a surprise scheduled for COUNTDOWN LIVE.

Speaking of COUNTDOWN LIVE, the singer has posted the concerts of the past years on Youtube for one day.

Ayumi Hamasaki teases new song “Pray for you”, uploads all of her CDL concerts to YouTube

These past few weeks have been a bit rough for Ayumi “AYU” Hamasaki fans. The state of her 2020-2021 CDL concert was temporarily in limbo due to new restrictions from the government regarding COVID-19, but the concert ultimately had to be cancelled due to one of the staff members testing positive for the virus. Luckily for her fans, Ayu had some surprises to cheer them up for the holiday season and new year.

At her CDL concert she was supposed to debut a brand new song called “Pray for you“. Instead, she has uploaded the entire instrumental of the song on her official Instagram account. The instrumental video features a summary of her live performances this year along with BTS footage.

A release date for “Pray for you” has not been revealed yet.

Meanwhile, Ayu’s first 2021 release will be a DVD and blu-ray of her latest concert tour “ayumi hamasaki TROUBLE TOUR 2020 A – Saigo no Trouble – FINAL”. First press editions will come with a slipcase and 40 page photobook. It will hit store shelves on January 27th, 2021.

Sanspo is reporting that retired queen Namie Amuro will be releasing a brand new best album in 2021. Ever since her retirement in September 2018, her music has continued to maintain popularity. Amuro’s music is still even being used for marketing campaigns.

Just this month makeup and skincare giant KOSE created a campaign titled “You are my HERO” honoring health care workers. Amuro’s 43rd single “Hero” is currently being used for the campaign.

Her song “Christmas Wish” also continues to gain heavy rotation every time the Christmas and holiday season roll around.

The release date for the new compilation album has not been revealed yet, according to an entertainment spokesperson the final plans for the album may still be up in the air due to COVID-19. Despite that they hope that this album will bring another resurgence of her music, in turn helping cope with the pandemic.

Amuro has released six compilation albums in her career so far. Besides standard a-sides she has also released a collection of collaborations and ballads. She has yet to release a compilation album of b-sides or rarities.

Amuro’s last release was the 2017 best album “Finally”.
