Canadian singer-songwriter Lights announced her upcoming dance-remix album “Dead End” will be released on August 7, 2020.

From the album, she has dropped album title track, in which she teamed up with Los Angeles-based producer MYTH.

The accompanying music video was directed by her husband Beau Bokan. “I wanted to put a new twist on my music that would make more sense to that kind of show. I thought, man, I’ve been making acoustic versions of my records for years, I might as well make dance versions too,” Lights said. “Reworking a handful of the songs with my friend MYTH into a fitting live set – like a remixed performance – with live vocals and guitar.”

“This led us to cracking open some new demos I had been working on and fitting them into this release as well,” she stated.

Jordana hasn’t wasted any time since signing on with label Grand Jury in January. This past spring the bedroom pop artist re-released her debut album, Classical Notions of Happiness, and now, she’s prepping a new follow-up EP. Titled Something to Say, it’s slated for arrival next month.

According to Jordana, who just recently celebrated her 20th birthday, the forthcoming EP is a natural progression from the work found on Classical Notions. “I saw that I was growing; my sound was growing,” she remarked in a statement. “As soon as we finished [album bonus track] ‘Crunch’ in the studio, we were like, ‘This was the best thing that we’ve ever made, ever, and I want to do more of it.’”

Listeners heard “more of it” on last month’s “I’ll Take It Boring”, the first official preview of Something to Say. A second single, “Big”, is here and sees the promising young musician carefully considering just how vulnerable and explicit she should be.

“I feel like it’s at the perfect level I want it to be, where it’s not too personal, but it’s not cheesy,” Jordana remarked. “Sometimes it’s scary to be too personal. Being vague for this EP was the right way to go, because whatever doesn’t make up for it in the lyrics definitely does in instrumentation, beat-wise, harmonies and everything.”

Something to Say was release on July 31st.

US-Moroccan singer Abir has released this week her second EP, “Heat.”

The Fez-born crooner’s new musical project is a collection of seven songs, which she describes as “Arab pop.”

The new EP is accompanied by visuals for the singles “Inferno” and “Yallah.” Both music videos were shot on location in the Moroccan desert just outside of Marrakech with the help of a team of all Arab creatives.

“As a daughter of the East and West, I wanted to explore that duality in my music as well as contribute to the conversation surrounding Arab women and challenge the narrative that exists in today’s world,” the singer said on Instagram ahead of the EP’s launch.

“This project is near and dear to my heart for reasons far beyond music. I consider this project to be the culmination of many years of growth and self-discovery.”
