DNA is the fifteenth studio album released by Japanese artist Koda Kumi, released on August 22, 2018. The album was released six months after her previous studio album, AND, making it her second album of 2018. The album debuted at #2 on the Oricon Albums Charts, becoming her second consecutive album to not reach the number-one spot (AND charted at #6).

Unlike AND, which carried a fun and upbeat style, DNA was made to be darker and toned down. This was most prevalent by the album’s artwork, in which Kumi dons more muted attire.

The album was preluded by three singles: LIT, HUSH and Never Enough. However, the songs “LIT” and “Never Enough” were placed on the album AND, while “HUSH” was the only song placed on DNA.

On August 22, MISIA release her new single, “Ai no Katachi.” It’s a collabration with GReeeeN, marking the first time that the two acts have worked together. GReeeeN is in charge of the song’s lyrics and compostion, with member HIDE singing on the chorus. “Ai no Katachi” is another first in terms of arrangement, marking the first time that Kameda Seiji has arranged a song for MISIA.

“Ai no Katachi” is a heartfelt love song, depicting the growing relationship between a stepmother and a stepdaughter, mirroring the TBS drama “Gibo to Musume no Blues”, for which “Ai no Katachi” is the theme song.

26th January 2018 saw sensational singer/ songwriter Katie Sky unveil the 5 track Evo EP. Now this sparkling sophomore is long overdue, she made her debut with the Paradise EP in 2011 and during the years which followed Sky dropped a couple of synth pop gems (Only You, Melody Changes). Plus Katie even collaborated with the likes of Timeflies, 4AM, Topher Jones and K Theory.

2017 saw Katie Sky re emerge from the shadows with not just one but two phenomenal singles. These being Evolution and Saturate which heightened my desire for Katie’s sophomore.

Now Evo is a piece of pure perfection, I literally fell in love with it at first listen. Everything about this exquisite EP was on point and when compared to Paradise you do notice the progression. Smothered in plenty of synthy goodness, this tantalising release has been perfectly produced and the style was slightly similar to Ellie Goulding’s Halcyon era.

Longguo (Kim Yong Guk) has released his mini album “Friday n Night,” the title track of his first solo mini album of the same name!

“Friday n Night” is a track that expresses the feelings of someone who misses their ex and doesn’t want to forget memories of them. Longguo participated in writing the lyrics for the track, teaming up with 7th Street’s Seo Gong Ryong and Bay P, who also wrote Longguo & Shihyun’s “Stay Here.”

The music video reflects the feelings of longing that can be felt from the lyrics, and Longguo plays the role of someone who runs a café and is left breathless when he is hit with the memories of his ex.
