Kristin Welchez is best-known as Dee Dee, leader of the gauzy garage-rock gang Dum Dum Girls. Back in January, though, we learned that Welchez is about to launch a brand-new solo project. For now, she’ll be Kristin Kontrol, and she’s getting ready to release an album of Germanic ’80s-style synthpop. As it turns out, the album is called X-Communicate, and it’s coming out in May.
